On February 02, the Nifty reached a record high of 22,126.80,
while the Sensex surged over 1,400 points. However, both benchmarks retreated
from their peak levels by the end of the day. The Sensex closed at 72,085.63,
down 440.33 points (0.61%), and the Nifty at 21,853.80, down 156.30 points
(0.72%).
US MARKETS
The three main US stock indices marked their fourth straight weekly advances. The S&P 500 rose by 1.07%, closing at 4,958.61 points. The Nasdaq increased by 1.74% to reach 15,628.95 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up by 0.35% to finish at 38,654.42 points.
