What you get on every stock

FFundamental score

Growth, profitability, financial strength and valuation against the sector, scored 0–100 from the company's exchange filings — the last eight quarterly results, the shareholding pattern, dividends and the latest results filing — and rebuilt after each result.

TTechnical score

Trend, momentum, relative strength against Nifty 50 and volume behaviour, scored 0–100 from the market feed's history and recomputed after every close.

SGStreetgains view

A one-line stance, the levels in focus and what would change the view — written by rule from the two scores and the chart's levels, and replaced by the research desk's own view when the desk publishes one.

About the scores

How is the fundamental score built?

Four parts, each 0–25: growth (revenue and profit, latest quarter year on year — quarter on quarter until the year-ago quarter is on file — and the trailing four quarters), profitability (net margin, the operating margin and its trend, return on equity where published), financial strength (interest cover and the reported debt-equity ratio from the results filing, promoter holding, dividends paid) and valuation (P/E against the sector's, PEG, P/E against its own range, price to book where published). The data is the exchanges' own pages — BSE's quote-page data first, NSE's pages and the company's results filing where NSE answers; a part with no data is left out and the score is scaled to the parts present.

How is the technical score built?

Four parts, each 0–25: trend (price against the 50- and 200-day averages, the 50 against the 200, the 50-DMA's slope), momentum (RSI, MACD, the 20-day rate of change), relative strength (against Nifty 50 over one and three months, against the sector over three) and volume (today against the 20-day median, up-day against down-day volume, the share of volume on up days, delivery %). Recomputed after every close.

Is a high score a buy signal?

No. Scores describe where a stock stands on public data. They are research opinions, not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold, and past scores do not predict returns. Specific trade research with entry, stop-loss and target is a separate subscription service.

Scores and views are research opinions on listed securities, generated by rule from public data and reviewed by the research desk. They are not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold; you make your own decisions. Prices come from an exchange-licensed market feed during the session.
