points (0.15%) to 71,645.30, while the Nifty dropped 28.20 points (0.13%) to
21,697.50.
US MARKETS
In a widespread surge, all three major US stock indices saw significant gains, with the Nasdaq leading the way. The S&P 500 rose 1.25% to close at 4,906.19 points, the Nasdaq advanced 1.30% to 15,361.64 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.97% to 38,519.84 points.
ASIAN MARKETS
Early on Friday, Asian markets showed gains, reflecting the rebound on Wall Street. The recovery followed Chairman Jerome Powell's indication that the US Federal Reserve was unlikely to cut rates in March, easing concerns from earlier in the week's sell-off.
OIL & GAS UPDATES:
On Thursday, oil prices declined by more than 2 percent, with Brent crude settling at $78.70 per barrel, down 2.5 percent, and US West Texas Intermediate crude falling to $73.82, a decrease of 2.7 percent.
